Here lies Goldy
We said goodbye to our first real pet...Goldy the gold fish. He lived a fine life. He was admired by some, loathed by others. He did his part as good as any gold fish could have done.
Doug had the honors of sending Goldy on to another place... Doug was reluctant to any pictures being taken at this time.
I felt we needed the record..."we did have a pet once".I will confess, Goldy sat on the counter covered up with paper towels for a good day and a half. I didn't have it in me to help Goldy "move on" and it's been a busy work week for Doug. Hence, he stayed on the counter...ewww...
The tank is pretty empty now. I really did feel bad that we couldn't keep him alive longer. I told Doug I just can't have pets because I have guilt over Goldy's death. We could have done more... a bigger tank, perhaps? Cleaner water more often? We could of had someone feed him when we had to leave town? I know some of you have witnessed our fish, and he had some neurotic tendancies, but it just helped him fit into our household all the better;)
Let's reflect on Goldy's life for a moment...This is when he was brand new from the July 4th carnival. Lilli was thrilled to have him...me, not so much. Most of the girls couldn't leave him alone, for the first three days...Lexi, not so much.
Here is a cute family picture Ava did at school. Notice she even has Goldy as part of the family!
He really will be missed...by some more than others.

awwww - that's too bad about your fish. poor goldy, she was a good fish - a little on the twitchy side, but a good fish. :)
RIP Goldy. I agree with Wende a little twitchy.
Don't have guilt over a fish...I flushed a live frog before but I thought he was dead.
so sad! I can't believe you didn't give him a proper burial in a pet cemetary!? You know with a head stone & all ;)
that's what trent seems to think we should do with all our gold fish from the past.
Evan's goldfish Phelps died today too. He insists on a burial.
Poor Goldy! My kids got little frogs last summer at the fair and two days later they were both dead. Garrett didn't really care, but Hunter was heart broken. Garrett took it upon himself to "bury" the frogs and Hunter cried and cried. He wasn't ready to flush his yet and said he wanted to keep him for a couple more days! Kids are so funny!
We had a fish once...and the same ending occurred. It happens. We haven't had a fish or other pet since. I am all for no pets!
his name was george, mom.
Janae,
Im sorry for your loss. you must be devastated. On a brighter note, I now know what to get you for your birthday...
I hope Lili will be okay...maybe another fish will be a good thing...or try a frog they may live longer.
Lilli...to Ava and I, he was always Goldy...remember Ava's family pictures proves the real name:)
The first one is always the hardest! That reminds me that I need to go upstairs and check on our fish. We have a stong one that seems to live through everything. I love that you still don't agree on his name. This sounds so much like home!
I'm sorry about Goldy/George. That is sad. But, that is what happens with goldfish, so don't feel too guilty.
I found the picture of Finn and Nicolette, it is cute! I was hoping you caught the moment when they both had their mouths glued to the gizmo ball, but it is really cute and brings to mind that sweet & slobbery moment :)
You are right, your blog is a great record! I have to admit, I didn't read it all, but I looked at all of the cute pictures from December! And I LOVED the pictures of Vivi's birthday and pinkalicious cake!
I love how goldy was included in the family portrait! RIP Goldy.
awww poor goldy, won't the kitchen seem so empty without his pleasing personality!
I still miss george, (ava, mom). my mom won't let me get another fish.
